HEAVY METAL?

Saw this on Stereogum today and loved it. Really helps crystallize my own definition of Heavy Metal... the debate here is on the band Rush, but the same question could be asked about Van Halen, Def Leppard, AC/DC... hard rock, long hair, ridiculously fast guitar solos, but Heavy Metal?
